Raise Awareness
The GPNP has a great story to tell! Whether it’s about our latest advocacy efforts, insightful research findings, successful rallies and events or the inspiring work of any one of our 340 members, the GPNP constantly endeavors to share these stories and highlight our collective as well as individual impact.
The 2012 Communications goals of the Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership are as follows:
- The media publishes stories and editorials regarding the role of the nonprofit sector in the regional economy and quality of life.
- Develop a partnership with ACCD that increases the business sector's understanding of the role of the nonprofit sector in the regional economy and quality of life.
- Meet with all radio, television, and print media in our 10-county region.
- We have developed a method for tracking and understanding the public's perception of the nonprofit sector in their lives.
To reach these goals, the GPNP will:
- Publish 4 policy briefs that focus on nonprofit return on investments
- Quarterly op-eds emphasizing nonprofit contribution to regional economy and quality of life
- Host editorial briefings with Post Gazette, Tribune Review, and Business Times
- Host a meeting with ACCD to discuss the role of the nonprofit sector in the regional economy and quality of life, letter from Dennis Yablonsky to members, feature on Bill Flanagan's show, and address in annual meeting.
- Develop the GPNP Web site and social media tools as portals to tell the story of member nonprofits and the nonprofit sector
- Develop and update media list, media kit, and speakers bureau.
- Recruit volunteers to attend media visits with staff
- Undergo a one-year public opinion poll through CivicScience that measures the public's understanding of the nonprofit sector.
- Conduct a public opinion study of the nonprofit sector.
